Writer
I found a love for writing in high school, much of which I owe to the encouragement of my English teacher, Kathryn Wilkens. She helped me see that writing was not just a series of meaningless words, but life expressions. She gave me the courage to speak on paper when I could not speak aloud.
My work includes poetry and song lyrics, devotionals and short stories.
My first book was the self-published, “Dear Ones,” a collection of devotionals and poetry.
I have been published in funeral trade magazines including Mortuary Management and International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association.
My poetry has appeared in numerous small publications and is currently used as a grief resource.
My short stories have appeared in “Cup of Comfort for Mothers and Daughters” and Chicken Soup’s “Angels Among Us.”
I am currently working on a children’s book that will help parents speak to their children and answer questions about death and funerals.
