Sandy’s Background
I was born Sandy Lynn Helm to Marshall “Digger” and June Helm on February 27, 1958. My sister Kristi Joy Helm joined our family in 1960. Both of my parents remarried when I was quite young, and through this came the blessing of siblings to our extended families.
My mother married Neal Froese and we moved to Southern California, settling in Montclair where my brother Andrew Kent Froese was born in 1962.
My father remained in Bakersfield, running the Greenlawn Mortuary and Cemetery, now Greenlawn Funeral Homes, Cremations and Cemeteries, which his father founded in the 1930’s. A second location in Bakersfield was opened in the 1970’s and a Tehachapi location was purchased in 2007. My brothers Michael Scott and Marshall Anthony Helm were born in 1963 and 1964 and my sister Jayme Dawn Helm was born in 1966.
I grew up in Montclair, attending local schools and graduating from Montclair High School in 1976. I found singing to be my true love in junior high. The rest of my school days, I was actively involved in many different choirs and began singing for weddings, funerals, memorials, and special events.
Shortly after graduation, I married Tim Price and though the marriage ended in divorce, we have remained friends. Tim and his precious wife, Sallie run a prayer retreat in Idyllwild, California called the “Center for Prayer Mobilization.”
In 1981 I married child actor James Gregory “Greg” Moffett. We have been blessed with four wonderful children and 10 grandchildren. Greg, now retired, is as ever, my calm in the midst of a very busy schedule.
I continue to sing with the worship choir at my home church, Valley Baptist, and have sung with the Sweet Adelines, the Bakersfield Symphony Singers and the Bakersfield Masterworks Chorale.
