In the days of laws and sacrifice
Innocent blood was shed
For cleansing and atonement
But the people lived in dread
And the blood dripped down
And lives were restored
But there was never a forever cure
Until Jesus Christ the Lord
The people listened to his words
And watched his tender care
Of orphans, widows, the hurting
All living in despair
But rulers and kings were frightened
That they would lose control
And so, the people shouted crucify
But here’s what they didn’t know
That as they nailed him to that cross
They were part of a greater plan
One true, forever sacrifice
Offered for every man
And His blood dripped down
For all who would believe
That he would be their sacrifice
And they would be forever freed.
