I stepped up to the shore line
Let my feet touch the foam
I waded farther – deeper
Till I was all alone
The waves were crashing over me
In the sea of my despair
I reached out for a life line
But I found nothing there
There was no boat to save me
No buoy in the night
No lighthouse in the distance
I had no strength to fight
With my last breath, I cried out
To the Name above all names
Jesus, come and help me
Bring me back to You again
Then at last, I saw Him
Standing in the waves
Reaching out to save me
I heard Him gently say
You weren’t beyond my love
You weren’t beyond my care
I was waiting for you to need me
But I was always there
